I have an idea of a system that could be run on this website. I'm not sure of what mods are available of vbulletin or how hard it would be to set this up, but my idea is a trust/reward system that rewards users for contribution. If a user posts or contributes with things such as articles, tips, or contributes things such as news or homebrew, they could be rewarded with points. If a user gets so many points, they could be upgraded to a new user level of some kind. A user could either lose points or gain some sort of "abuse points" by spamming or posting abusive content. What could a user do with points? Well they could be rewarded with new privileges (I'm not suggesting forum moderation since that could be risky), access to site features of some kind, and of course the most important thing, trust. If a user with a 1000 points posts, you can know that they are trustworthy and believe the information that they contribute. I know the biggest concern with this system is
abuse. Well to prevent this, there can be some sort of limit of points that can be earned, and optionally, points could be manually rewarded instead of automated, and users could be rewarded points by mods for contributing good information or helping out the website.
This system could also open up this website to having more things such as downloads, since it could limit the amount of users that can download, and therefore regulate bandwidth. Possibly other features that have not been considered in the past due to bandwidth issues could be explored too.
In addition, this website could get some sort of a psp wiki. I think it would attract many users to join if you could look up just about anything about a psp or homebrew from this website.
I understand that this would be difficult to develop, code, and optimize for the greatest prevention of abuse, but this could be something that could be developed over time. If it would achieve great site growth, it would be worth it. These are just suggestions, I'm just trying to help.
